Q: extra question

Whats the sustainability of this tool? I see Surfn used to be a book app two years ago, and now it is a chatbot. How can we be sure that what we invest in now will not be shut down later? What guarantees do we have, since the investment is expensive, If you shut down in the future, we would lose. I need to understand your sustainability before purchasing and using this for clients, as I cannot use a tool that might shut down or change into something else like it did from a book app to a chatbot. Look forward to your response.

A: Thanks for asking -- completely fair question.

First, just to clarify one thing: Surfn’s original AI-powered book summary app was never shut down. It’s still live and running today. Surfn has evolved significantly since then, but we didn’t simply shut down the previous product.

Our team has made a substantial investment in building the current Surfn platform, and we’re just getting started with growing and developing it. Our focus is also somewhat different from a traditional chatbot platform: we’re building conversational AI experiences designed to help businesses generate leads, increase conversions, and guide people toward action across websites and other marketing channels.

As founders, we’re also working directly with early businesses to develop and test new conversational AI use cases around their real marketing and conversion goals. Those partnerships are helping shape what we build next.

From a sustainability standpoint, we’ve intentionally structured the AppSumo plans with defined monthly AI credit allowances rather than unlimited AI usage. AI has an ongoing cost to us, and customers who need more usage can purchase optional credit top-ups. That helps us support lifetime customers sustainably as usage grows.

While no company can make an absolute guarantee about the future, we’re building Surfn as a long-term business, continuing to invest in the platform, and have no plans to shut it down.

I’d definitely encourage you to try the platform and see whether it’s a good fit for your client use cases. And if you have any questions along the way, feel free to reach out to me through LinkedIn or email anytime.

Hope that helps!
