Q: BYOK Feature and Its Impact on User Trust
Sam, I need to raise this, sorry. About 18 months ago, I purchased another LTD here on AppSumo that had a core BYOK feature. The owner recently removed BYOK and now forces users to buy credits through their system. To me, this feels like one of the most unethical moves seen in the SaaS LTD world, aside from abandoning the product. As you understand the community sees BYOK as a key feature of this offer and would be very disappointed if it were removed in the future. BYOK benefits users without harming the SaaS. From what I’ve seen from you, I doubt something similar would happen with Alter, but since you have your own dedicated LLM server, in the future you would theoretically have this possibility and "force" us to buy credits from you, and I wanted to hear your thoughts on that. Thanks.

May 8, 2026A: We will never do this for multiple reasons:
1. BYOK is part of what makes Alter different from the mainstream players.
2. It's a guarantee for our lifetime holders to be able to keep using Alter if the worst happen
3. It lets people try Alter for a longer period, thus building trust that can turn into sales later
4. It's a way for people without buying power to use 80% of Alter anyway
Thank You Sam! That is very good news!
Just as I expected from you!
