Activity Monitor lists a thousand processes and leaves the adding up to you. Vitals adds every helper to the app that launched it, so you see at a glance which app is eating your memory, CPU and battery.

TL;DR

  • checkmarkFind the one app behind a hot, slow Mac in seconds, with about 60 apps on screen instead of 1,000 processes
  • checkmarkKeep 30 days of history, a volume slider per app, every Bluetooth battery and a menu bar you arrange yourself

Why people switch from Activity Monitor

See the app behind the number, not a hundred helpers

  • Find the culprit at a glance: every helper is added to the app that launched it, so a busy Mac shows about 60 apps, each with one figure for memory, CPU, energy, disk and network
  • Open Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Brave or Arc to see which tabs, extensions and graphics work are behind its memory and CPU
  • Look back over 30 days to find the app that drained the battery overnight or filled the memory while you were away, and get a notification when an app misbehaves
  • Quit or force quit an app or a single process in two clicks, always after a confirmation
See the app behind the number, not a hundred helpers

Get everything Activity Monitor leaves out

  • Turn Chrome down while Music stays up with a volume slider for every app that has sound open
  • See every Bluetooth battery in one list, lowest first, with AirPods split into left, right and case
  • Find what keeps your Mac awake and which apps draw the most power, so the battery lasts the meeting
  • Catch the dev servers you forgot were running, grouped by project with their ports, and stop an idle one in one click
  • Watch Docker containers by name with the memory and CPU each one takes

Use it in your own language, in the words macOS uses

  • Choose from eleven languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese
  • Read the same terms as in System Settings and Activity Monitor, because every translation was taken from Apple's own
  • Follow your Mac's language with no setting to change, or give Vitals its own language in System Settings

Coming soon: let your coding assistant ask Vitals first

  • Connect Claude, Codex, Cursor and other assistants to the running Vitals, with nothing sent anywhere else
  • Ask what is slowing the Mac, what is on port 3000, or which dev servers have sat idle for hours, from what Vitals already knows
  • Get a verdict before anything is quit: safe, ask first or do not, with the reason, so an assistant never kills the database you are working in
  • Pay nothing extra: it arrives as a free update, like every update

See which app is slowing your Mac

Hey Sumo-lings 👋

I'm Atta, an indie Mac developer and the solo builder behind Vitals.

I kept running into the same problem: my Mac got hot and slow, and nothing told me which app was causing it.

Activity Monitor showed me 1,041 processes, 96 of them called Google Chrome Helper, and left me adding them up. Menu bar monitors showed me a busy CPU, but not who was behind it. Vitals is a native Mac app that counts every helper under the app that launched it, so you see about 60 apps, each with one figure for memory, CPU, energy, disk, and network.

What makes Vitals different is that it starts from the app, and it remembers.

It keeps 30 days of history, so you can find what drained the battery overnight. It also does the jobs of a few small utilities: a volume slider for every app, every Bluetooth battery, what keeps the Mac awake, Docker containers, and the dev servers you forgot were running. Nothing about what you run leaves your Mac.

And as of today, your coding assistant can ask Vitals too. Vitals 1.4 ships an MCP server, so Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and any assistant that speaks MCP can ask what is running, which app is behind a number, what is on a port, and what the last 30 days looked like. An assistant cannot quit anything on its own: it asks Vitals, Vitals shows you the request in a window, and nothing is quit until you say so. You choose what assistants may see, and Vitals itself still sends nothing anywhere.

I posted it on X on 24 September 2026, and it took off: 120,000 views, the first 1,000 licenses gone inside a week, and more than 1,350 sold so far. In the first 17 days, I shipped 24 updates, most of them things buyers asked for, and the MCP server was the biggest ask of all.

I'm on AppSumo because I'm building Vitals for the long run, and this is the community I want building it with me. Every update, this one included, is free for life.

I'll be in the questions section throughout the campaign, so ask me anything 🙌
