Slow development, zero communication, outdated roadmap, and early buyers left behind

I purchased this lifetime deal as an early supporter, but my confidence in the product has steadily declined, largely due to a complete lack of communication from the team.

For months at a time there are no updates via email, Discord, or any other channel. The roadmap and changelog are also consistently out of date, leaving customers with no visibility into whether development is progressing, what is being prioritized, or what to expect next. That level of silence is difficult to justify for a product that relies on long-term user trust.

I was also disappointed by how new features have been handled across tiers. At the time of purchase, the tiers were differentiated primarily by usage limits, not by functionality. API access was introduced later and restricted to the highest tier only. Looking back, creating that kind of feature gap feels unfair to the early adopters who backed the product first, and it is unfortunately a practice the LTD community is all too familiar with.

Finally, I have concerns about the product direction itself. Nearly a year ago I suggested a basic but essential feature for the mobile app: the ability to just dictate something and simply save it for later, with no intention of being sent or published immediately. For a dictation tool, this feature is a fundamental use case, yet it remains unimplemented and has received no meaningful follow-up.

Taken together, this evidence suggests a team that is not listening closely to its users and does not have a clear plan for where the product is going. Until that changes, with regular communication, an up-to-date roadmap, and fair treatment of early buyers, I cannot recommend this deal.

Hi @ExperEnough,

Thank you for writing this. You're right that this page went quiet between June and September. However, we were emailing release notes. From today, every release is posted here too on AppSumo page.

About the pace of development: We haven't been standing still tbh. Since March we've shipped 10 releases, all public at:
github.com/abornaee/voicedash-updates/releases

Between 29 March and 11 September we shipped 10 desktop releases (v1.0.11 → v1.0.20), about one every 2.5 weeks, plus backend releases up to v1.6.0. Two of those releases alone carried roughly 150 and 129 commits. They include:

- Several new version on Mac, Windows, Android, and iOS
- Zero Data Retention under a signed agreement with OpenAI
- Command Mode
- Context-aware formatting
- Instant recording start (300 ms pre-roll)
- Retry without re-recording
- Meeting Notetaker, now part of VoiceDash 2.0
- API Access

Apart from Email announcement, all above is also announced in our change log page: https://voicedash.supahub.com/en/changelog

On API access, unlike dictation, API processing carry a real per-request compute cost, so they're allocated by tier. However, if you really need API access, we're happy to provide it to you as a good will as one of our early customer. Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] , and we'll sort it out for you.

About the Save it for later: What mobile device you have? We already have this feature on Android since many months ago and we're working on it for the next version of iPhone.

Would you give the latest version a try? If it earns back some of your confidence, I'd be grateful if you'd revisit your review. If it doesn't, email us directly at [email protected]. We'd genuinely like to hear what would.
