Can't Currently Replace Granola
I really wanted to like PrismaCal, and I appreciate what the team is trying to build. But in its current state, it isn’t dependable enough for my workflow.
My biggest issue was transcription reliability. During a roughly 25-minute lag, I stopped the recording—and the final 25 minutes were completely missing. It also did not generate a summary afterward. That makes it difficult to trust for longer calls or anything I may need to reference later.
Other limitations I ran into:
- No persistent AI chat/history connected to the meeting
- Meetings capped at 2 hours - believe it or not we sometimes have strategy sessions that go beyond two hours and we need a note-taker.
- No clear manual sync option; I had to close and reopen the app and hope it synced
- Summary quality and AI chat usefulness did not meet my needs
- No ability to chat with notes and have additional context or info added to notes.
- The experience felt too unreliable for real working calls, where missing content is not acceptable
I’m rooting for the product, but I need a tool that reliably captures the full conversation, syncs predictably, produces usable summaries, and lets me return to meeting context through persistent chat. :(

Edited Sep 21, 2026Edit: Hi! I checked your account and noticed you’re using the iOS version of Prismical on your Mac, downloaded from the Mac App Store - that version is over 4 months old (lagging by over 20 versions) since we now publish the app directly on https://prismical.ai/apps to release faster (App store reviews can take weeks) - so can you please download form there and try - all you issues are addressed there :) Sorry for the confusion.
Hi! Thank you for the detailed feedback, and for rooting for us - it genuinely helps.
Sorry to hear about the reliability issues you ran into - reliability is our primary objective in how we've designed Prismical. Every recording is saved locally, and transcriptions are retried and checked for errors so nothing gets missed. On desktop, since the recording is cached locally on your device, you can even retry transcription directly if something looks off. If you can email your account details to [email protected], we'd like to look into what you specifically ran into and make it right. In the meantime, the desktop app tends to be noticeably more reliable than the web app, since the browser imposes some restrictions we don't fully control there - worth trying if you haven't already.
On the other points:
Persistent AI chat/history - this already exists: you can start a new chat per note and revisit past ones from the history icon in the Ask AI panel, top right.
2-hour cap - good call, and we're already working on extending this, and scheduled to release this next month. For now, once you hit the cap you can just restart the recording from where it left off and it continues seamlessly, with the earlier transcript preserved - so in practice you're not limited to 2 hours today.
Manual sync - sync is automatic and normally happens within seconds, so there shouldn't be a need for a manual trigger - but could you tell us whether the sync issue you saw was with the notes, the transcript, or somewhere else? That'll help us pin it down.
Summary/chat quality and chatting with notes for added context - fair points, and both are things we're actively building: custom skills so you can direct the AI on the exact format and depth you want summaries to have, with more context-aware chat to follow.
Appreciate you laying all this out - it's genuinely useful, and we'd love the chance to earn your trust back.
