I'm sure Alter is great for transcribing meetings, but I already have an app for that.
Alter kind of takes what ChatGPT does as an assistant to the next level.
The first thing I did was get it to read a bunch of documents and extract a solid course creation template from all of it, and it did a great job.

Pro: Alter asks the right questions and seems to be a great assistant that pushes me to give it more info to create amazing things.
Con: Unlike ChatGPT, which always remembers my mission and preferences, Alter seems to only be able to remember memory and context per chat thread.

Great app with tons of potential.
I can't wait to see where this one goes.

This tool has been truly impressive. I hadn’t used anything like it before. Although it took some time to become familiar with its features after watching a few tutorial videos, once I got the hang of it, I found it extremely valuable. It has significantly streamlined my workflow and saved me a considerable amount of time, especially when it comes to copy-pasting tasks. Overall, it has proven to be an essential tool in enhancing my productivity.

One area to improve, perhaps others like me may find it helpful ;) :

I appreciate the effort put into the tutorial videos; however, I found that every video could benefit from being a bit more detailed and informative. At times, I had to rewatch certain sections multiple times to fully grasp the concepts being demonstrated. Incorporating visual aids, such as a pointer or highlight to indicate where the instructor is clicking or focusing, would greatly enhance clarity and help viewers follow along more easily. Overall, these enhancements would improve the learning experience and make the tutorials more effective for a wider audience.

Loving it so far.. Keep crushing you all..

This software is so many things all rolled into one. I'm just getting started, but I can't tell you that I believe this software will certainly be life-changing for me. I'm just amazed. Stupidly, I just realized that I registered with a different email than the license with app sumo, so I will have to transfer things over. Alter is already helping me so much! I asked Claude how Alter could help me, so now I have a task list to implement the things that will help me most in my business. I will be using this to keep track of the latest versions of documents, SOPs, clinical documentation templates, message templates, vendor documents, my HTML website, and I think I downloaded this software only about 24 hours ago. I know what I will be using it for literally everything (marketing, admin, etc.) that doesn't require the HIPAA protection I'm bound to in my business. Merci beaucoup! Super cool!

I have a hard time believing this was made available on AppSumo!

I follow many staff from leading AI companies, and they’re saying the future moat will be the tools that wrap around models. Alter is exactly that for Mac users: an interface for easy contextualization, looped runs, and fast processing. Importantly, it’s based in Europe, which makes me feel safer about data privacy.

I really wanted to love Alter. It’s tackling a genuinely unique and valuable use case, and I can absolutely see it being the perfect fit for certain workflows.

In my case, I’ve already solved much of this functionality using Claude Code, so it may simply be that I’ve moved past where Alter would have been most helpful. I also ran into some performance issues on both my MacBook and Mac Mini, where it seemed to use a significant amount of CPU/GPU—though that may be specific to my setup rather than the app itself. It might be the AppSumo version of the tool as I didn't see any mention of this in the forums for Alter.

I’m a big fan of the developer and what they’re building here. While it wasn’t the right fit for me, I think this will be a great tool for the right user.
